What is the best season for a safari?

You can visit Tanzania throughout the year. However the most popular seasons are Mid December to Mid March and August to the end of October. The rainy season is from the end of March until the end of May. During the rainy season some roads are not accessible,. Please let us know your plan so that we can advice which part or areas to visit at that time of the year.

Can I customize My Tour?

Yes you can do! Please contact us for discussing your interests and requirements, so that together we can develop the itinerary that works for you. For this to be successful we would need to know something like your budget, places you want to visit, the type of accommodation you prefer, the length of your journey, and the number of people in your party etc.

What accommodation facilities are available in the parks?

Can I issue Visa upon Arrive?

Yes, you can issue your visa upon arrival. However, we highly recommend that travelers get visas in advance to reduce the amount of time they are in the airport on arrival.

What happens if a traveler is suspected of having COVID -19 on arrival?

We hope that this will not happen! However, should you show symptoms of COVID- 19 on arrival, you will be required to quarantine at a local hotel at your expense. You may also be subject to testing. If you are found to have COVID-19 and need medical treatment, you will have to pay for this treatment and any hospitalization. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance that will cover treatment and evacuation before you travel.

Will I be tested in Tanzania and if so, how is that done?

Some Airline are requiring a certificate before boarding the return flight or your home country may require a certificate on return. Further, if travelling to Kenya from Tanzania, you need to have a current certificate. Testing can be done in the following locations: Arusha, Moshi, Karatu, Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar. It takes 72 hours for the certificate to be issued, and the certificate is sent via email.

Is it possible to travel Kenya and Tanzania by land?

Yes. The road boarder at Namanaga is open and travelers can enter Tanzania from Kenya with the appropriate visa. Travelers entering Kenya from Tanzania have to produce a COVID-19 Negative certificate that has been issued in the last 96 hours.

What do I bring on Safari?

– Short and T-shirt for the day
– A pair of good walking boots if planning any walking safari
– Plenty of sun cream lotions.
– Good binoculars for safari
– Long trouser and long sleeved T-shirt shirt for evening protection from mosquitoes.
– A fleece for early morning and evening game drives as sometime it gets a bit chilly.
– Swimming costumes
– A small First Aid kit
– A pair of trainers
– A light weight water proof jacket in case of a sudden shower
– Safari hat to protect you from the sun
– Insect repellant for protection from savanna land insects
– A pack of wet wipes
– Good pair of sun glasses as you need to have one in this equatorial region where the sun is very powerful.
– Gift such as sweet, toys, pens/ pencils are handy for children or staff. The gesture is always appreciated.

What are the seasons like in Tanzania?

– Late March through late May represents the period of long rains in Tanzania. This is usually not an ideal time to plan a safari because of the potential for sudden downpours. However, is a wonderful to visit Tanzania’s National Parks due to the abundance of wildflowers and vegetation. It is also a wonderful time to go on safari because the level of dust and the level of tourist in the parks is minimal, and the rates of accommodation during this time is fairly low.
– July through October is Tanzania’s dry season and also high season for tourism. This is the best time to view wildlife as grasses are virtually nonexistent. It is usually a bit dusty, and can be cold at higher elevations such as Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania short rains occur from late October through mid December. This is a low season for tourism in Tanzania. December through March is Tanzania’s summer, and many tourists visit during late December and January for Optimal game viewing

When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?

Because Kilimanjaro is so near to the equator, the sun is always nearly overhead and seasons are not as we know them in higher latitudes. The two rainy seasons from late March to early June and from November to December, it’s worth avoiding the poor visibility and slippery paths in the rain forest if you can. Late June to October and January to early March are the best months to aim for, but remember that heavy rain, snow and thunderstorms can effect mountains at any time.

Is it possible to combine Kilimanjaro with other activities?

Yes you can combine Kilimanjaro with other activities, since the air fare to Tanzania is likely to be a high proportion of your holiday cost, consider the advantages of spending and extra week or more if you can.

Doe acetazolamide (trade name Dimox) Prevent AMS?

Yes it helps. Many drugs have been tried in the treatment and prevention of AMS. Diamox block or slow the enzyme involved in converting carbon dioxide. As a result, it speeds up acclimatization by stopping the blood from becoming too alkaline and by smoothing out your breathing: it also reduces periodic breathing. Many people attempt Kilimanjaro take Diamox with them because it can help to prevent, as well as treat, AMS. But it’s advisable before rushing off to get a doctor’s prescription, however, consider the possible side effects.
Diamox has been known to cause severe allergies reactions in a few individuals. So you try it out ahead of your trip to test if you are allergic, to experiment with dosage and discover whether you can tolerate the side-effects which may include:
• Increase flow of urine(dieresis)
• Numbness or tingling in hands, fee and face
• Nausea

Can I leave excess luggage behind whilst on safari?

Yes, you can leave some stuff that you don’t need whilst you are on safari at the hotel or at our office.

Can I obtain visa upon arrival?

Yes, you can issue visa upon arrival, but the best option is issue your visa electronically from Tanzanian embassy in your country.

What kind of accommodation facility is available during a climb?

The Marangu route offers accommodation dormitory style huts with beds and mattresses. For all other routes accommodation will be bases on camping in established campsites. Considering that there are a very limited number of climbers allowed on the Marangu route at any given time, it is necessary to book your climb in advance.

What is the Wildebeest Migration?

The Wildebeest Migration is the annual movement of approx 1.5 million wildebeest and Zebra and 6000,000 zebra and 300000 Thomson gazelle from Tanzanian’s Serengeti National Park to Kenya’s Masai Mara. The migration offers superb opportunity opportunities to view and learn animal behavior in the African Savanna land.
Although the migration is usually in the Serengeti in December through June and then again from August, the rain pattern in recent years have kept the wildebeest in Serengeti longer than normal and the exactly migratory paths and times are no longer a precisely science.

What is the best way to get to Tanzania?

If you are coming from Europe or North Africa, we recommend to fly with KLM to Kilimanjaro International Airport. If you are coming from Australasia, Fly Emirates has the best deals and flying to Dar es Salaam and Nairobi daily. Kilimanjaro Airport is one hour drive from Arusha while Nairobi and Dar es Salaam are a one hour flight or several hour bus ride from Arusha.

Are there any Airport taxes to pay in Tanzania?

All airport taxes are now included with most flights, both domestically, and internationally.

Will I be able to use ATM / Credit Card in Tanzania?

You can withdraw Tanzanian shillings using a visa/ MasterCard in Arusha, Moshi, Dar es salaam, and Zanzibar. Most hotels/ restaurant do not accept Credit Cards, and the ones that do usually charge commission of at least 3-5%. Please call your credit card company before you leave for Tanzania to notify them of your travel plans. Some companies will block your card if you use it in Tanzanian ATM. There is a withdraw limit of 400,000 per transaction (Approx US$200) at ATM but you can withdraw several time to suit your budget plan.
